Little White Oak Mountain
Checking out the newerish opened Phase 1 trails at Little White Oak Mountain in Mill Spring, NC! This route makes for a perfect loop: warming up on the Piney Flats trail, earning our turns climbing The Escalator, riding both top loops (Ripsaw Cove and Laurel Loop), and finally sending the jumps and berms on the bike-only Live Wire downhill trail to finish back on Piney Flats trail to the parking lot. If you're looking for fresh North Carolina singletrack, this new Polk County system is a quick refreshing ride.
Piney Flats
A wide, flat gravel path that's ideal for absolute beginners, families, or a quick cool-down spin around the lower section of the park. It’s not traditional singletrack, but it’s a zero-stress path to get your legs moving or introduce a new rider to dirt.
The Escalator
As the name implies, this is your main climbing route to access the downhill action. It’s a smooth, green-rated singletrack with manageable grades that won't blow up your legs before the descent. It offers clear sightlines and steady switchbacks to get you to the top efficiently.
Ripsaw Cove
Positioned near the top of the mountain, this one-mile loop is directional and open to foot traffic. It mixes easy pedal sections with slightly more undulating terrain. It’s a solid add-on lap before you drop into Live Wire, giving you a bit of extra flow and elevation.
Laurel Loop
A fast-rolling, green-rated multi-use trail perfect for warming up or stacking extra mileage. It features rolling terrain that carries speed well without demanding high technical skills. Expect smooth dirt and an easygoing physical layout that’s great for beginners but still fun for experienced riders.
Live Wire
The standout descent of the system. This blue-rated, bike-only downhill trail is packed with well-shaped berms, rollers, and optional jumps. It’s a fast, flowy run that rewards good cornering and lets you push your speed. You will probably want to lap it a few times.
